In the north of the country there is a lack of enzymes
Italian rapper Fedez took to his Instagram profile to warn of pancreatic enzyme shortages in the northern region of Italy.
He highlighted the shortage of these enzymes in Milan and Bologna, announcing his intention to write to the Italian Medicines Agency (Aifa) on the problem.
Fedez talks about his difficulties: “It’s a problem that I also encountered, having been operated on, with my pancreas almost completely removed, I need enzymes to eat and digest food.”
He reported that although he had a small supply, he could not find the enzymes in pharmacies for about a month and they are now out of stock.
Chiara Ferragni’s husband has launched an appeal to the producers of pancreatic enzymes, asking them to continue producing them so that patients are not deprived of essential care.
He underlined the seriousness of the situation: “It is as if there is a lack of specific medicines for heart disease.”
The Ministry of Health has issued a note on the matter, clarifying that the only manufacturing company (Viatris Italia Srl) has reported the impossibility of satisfying demand due to an excess of orders.
However, the Ministry underlined that AIFA allows the importation of a similar medicine authorized abroad, in the event that there are interruptions in supply.
Viatris said it is taking steps to make the drug available and minimize the impact of the shortage on patients. .
