A crash involving a car and trailer kills a couple in the state’s northwest

The suspicion is that the CrossFox in which the couple was traveling entered the oncoming lane, colliding with a trailer.

A serious accident, recorded on Saturday morning (27), caused the death of a couple missing on BR-285, in São Luiz Gonzaga, in the north-west of the state. The victims were identified as Roque Nei Miranda Rodrigues and Cenira da Silva, both 46 years old, according to information from the Federal Traffic Police.

The suspicion is that the CrossFox in which the couple was traveling entered the oncoming lane, colliding with a trailer. The driver died at the scene of the accident, while Cenira, who was in the passenger seat, was rescued, but she succumbed to her injuries and died in hospital.

There were also two other occupants in the vehicle, the couple’s 28-year-old son and a 22-year-old woman. Both were rescued by firefighters and taken to São Luiz Gonzaga hospital with serious injuries. According to the PRF, the woman needed to be transferred to the Santo Ângelo hospital. The driver of the truck was not injured.

The family, residing in the town of Catarina, in the hinterland of Salvador das Missões, will be mourned and buried in the town of Rincão Vermelho, in Roque Gonzales.
