Bowed to BURN-E

The first scene shows Commander Burnside, the leader of the Space Rangers, in his office. The latter sits, and in the background is a magnetic dome designed to protect the city built by humans trapped on the planet Tikana Prime. We also see a giant insect that launches an electric shock while trying to get inside.

But this scene also contains another Pixar film. Indeed, the most attentive viewer will notice a small robot BURN-E posing on a Burnside shelf. BURN-E is the protagonist of the 2008 WALL-E short film of the same name. This is the first short film by Angus McLain, directed by Buzz Lightyear. So it seemed logical that the latter applied to him.

Towards an ERIC short film?

The second scene is located at the end of the subtitles and refers to a scene that takes place a little earlier in Buzz Lightyear.

As Base and his team prepare to go on a mission, the robot ERIC (voiced by the director) tries to show them the best route to get to the spacecraft. As we saw earlier in the film, ERIC makes mistakes and starts explaining again. When he speaks, the other members of the team leave him and work out their own plan.

In this scene ERIC finally manages to find the best way and turns around and discovers that the ZAP patrol is no longer there and he has been talking to himself all the time. Like the 2009 BURN-E, will the ERIC robot have the right to make a short film about his wanderings after his teammates leave?

Continuation of Buzz Lightyear?

Finally, the last scene and most important thing happens at the end of the movie, after the appearance of the Pixar logo.

This last shot shows the back moving again and reveals that the enemy that the base seems to have destroyed still exists.

Therefore, the base and zap patrol may have something in common with the robot controlled by the old base. A scene that is expected to be Buzz Lightyear 2, which is also announced in the base space costume shown at the end of the movie, with the character’s name 2 above.
