When it was released in September 2020, Ratched by Ryan Murphy topped Netflix’s ratings. In just 28 days, the series was viewed by 48 million subscribers. This success seemed to secure an upcoming season 2, but since then, radio silence. Neither the platform nor its developer has announced an update. However, the series ended with an open ending, with Ratch and his brother Edmund finally meeting.

Closer to home, several Ryan Murphy series have been renewed on Netflix. The Politician had a chance to run for two seasons, with a Monster sequel due in 2024 and The Watcher, which was renewed for 2022, not due to return until 2025.
