The list was prepared based on the sales of romance books
Siena, the jewel of Tuscany, is the Italian city where the most romantic books were purchased in 2023, according to a ranking published by Amazon.it on the occasion of “Valentine’s Day”, celebrated on February 14th throughout the world.
The ranking was drawn up based on the number of per capita sales of e-books and printed books in cities with more than 50 thousand inhabitants in the last year.
Sardinia’s capital, Cagliari, comes in second place, while Pavia, near Milan, rose from last to third place, according to the site.
In fourth place is Vicenza, near Venice, followed by Trieste, Gallarate, in northern Italy, and Milan, while Sanremo (8th), Padua (9th) and Verona (10th) complete the top 10. The latter is considered the city of love par excellence. The most read printed book of 2023 in Italy was “A Thousand Kisses of a Boy”, by Tillie Cole, which tells the story of Poppy Litcheld who, at just 9 years old, decides to embark on the greatest adventure of her life: “collecting a thousand kisses capable of making your heart explode.”
Followed by the novel “Fabricante de Lágrimas”, by Erin Doom; “So It Begins”, by Colleen Hoover, whose protagonist rediscovers her first love after years; “Atlas. The story of Pa Salt – The Seven Sisters”, the last volume of the saga created by Lucinda Riley; and “Madly in Love,” by Felicia Kingsley.
