Latest Steam Hardware Survey Finds Only 0.3% of Gamers Use AMD Radeon RX 7000 Graphics Cards to Game

Data released by Steam from hardware referred to the month of January in the traditional Steam Survey report. In addition to many numbers, one thing surprises users of AMD graphics cards: the RDNA 3 based GPUs they are part of only 0.3% of the platform’s player base.

In other words, this means that less than 1% of gamers who have accepted the collection of their technical data use Radeon RX 7000 cards, the only ones to use the technology from RDNA 3 per month observed. Although that’s not exactly a surprise OMG not being very well positioned in the rankings, the numbers call into question the popularity and profitability that the GPU segment generates for the red team.

For comparison purposes, the original RDNA microarchitecture, which includes the retired Radeon RX 5000, represents 0.4% of the ratio’s share. The RDNA 2 of the RX 6000 is in a better position, with 3.4%. The top of the table is occupied by Ampere cards, corresponding to generation GeForceRTX3000 from NVIDIA.

RX 7900 XTX is the best positioned

The low numbers look a little curious. The best positioned AMD GPU is the Radeon integrated graphics in 12th place, while the dedicated card closest to the top 10 is the old Radeon RX 580. The best placed model with RDNA 3, strangely, is the RX 7900 top of the line.

although the Steam Survey Although very relevant and reliable, the report does not present information on the greater geographic distribution of the research. It is important to understand that some regions experience higher sales of GeForce cards, Intel or NVIDIA and this directly affects the results.

Be that as it may, some rumors suggest that AMD might do it give up on high-end video cards in the future generation with the RDNA 4 microarchitecture in the future. The new Radeon RX 8000 does not have an expected release date, but should only arrive from the end of 2024.
