The South Korean series never ceases to amaze us! Every week, products from New Morning Country (A nickname for South Korea, editor’s note) has been added to the Netflix catalog and is mostly very successful with French subscribers (but also worldwide).
Among the favorite genres of this K-drama, the thriller occupies a special place in South Korean productions. And there’s no doubt that A Killer Paradox, a brand new gem to be discovered exclusively on Netflix, will be a hit with us, and especially with fans of the Dexter series!
A macabre twist
The series tells the story of Li Tang, a young store employee. One evening, when he briefly replaces an absent colleague, the latter becomes the victim of a robbery. Aggression that harks back to the school bullying he experienced when he was younger drives him to defend himself and he kills his attacker in a fit of rage.
Like Dexter, Lee finds his victim haunted by a hallucinatory dialogue sequence with his bloodied corpse. But the comparison to the serial killer played by Michael C. Hall stops there. In The Assassin’s Paradox, the hero is not in control of his murderous impulses, but somehow finds himself a victim of these macabre events.
If it is too dark, the series chooses a very ironic form. In this way, the dark and intense humor emphasizes the dark side of the program, which therefore does not need the accumulation of hemoglobin or the effects of destruction to shock us. This form of macabre irony has also been compared to the Dexter series.
Crazy characters
The Assassin’s Paradox is an eight-episode series that easily lends itself to a chapter. binge watching.
But its highly original approach and its mixing of genres can also make it difficult to judge. Not everyone will get involved, but one thing is clear: this series will not leave anyone indifferent!
The South Korean series A Killer Paradox can now be viewed exclusively Netflix !
