‘It was a bold choice’: Anakin’s translator is happy this moving scene is being kept in Star Wars 3

We are at the end of Revenge of the Sith, the third episode of the Star Wars prequel directed by George Lucas. Corrupted by Emperor Palpatine’s lies, Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader. Although he is yet to wear his legendary black armor, the new Sith Lord is already following his master’s ruthless orders. And especially inside the Jedi Temple Coruscant, where his mission is to destroy all Padawans.

At the end of the dramatic sequence, we can even see Anakin enter the council chamber and flash his lightsaber in front of the youngest apprentices. Even if the sequence of events is just speculation, the scene marked many fans of the saga when the film was released in 2005.

“It was a bold choice.”

Notably dark for a Star Wars episode, it was also the subject of much debate during production, as Hayden Christensen, Anakin’s translator, recently revealed to the magazine. Empire :

“There was a lot of debate about whether we should do that scene or not, and I’m so happy that George Lucas chose to do it. It was a bold choice. And it’s shocking.”– said the actor, who refused to show Saga for his 8-year-old daughter a few months ago.

“Not an ounce of fear”

“The kids seem to forget this sequence when they meet me! There’s no fear or intimidation. They’re just excited to meet Anakin.”

Young Ross Bidman, who played the Padawan against Anakin, was just six when the scene was filmed, recently claiming he was paid £90 (around €100) for the role.
