Disney+: Do you like Agatha Christie-style investigations? This whodunit with a four-star cast hits the platform

Newbie detectives and mystery movie fans, get out your notebooks and get ready to take notes: A new investigation awaits you this Friday, February 16 on Disney+. Set to hit theaters in 2022, police comedy Coup de Theater is now available to stream on the platform.

While numerous adaptations of Agatha Christie’s novels, such as Murder on the Orient Express or Mystery in Venice, have seen the light of day in recent years, one of her works has been particularly difficult for those who wanted to bring it to life. big screen The play has been exhibited since 1952 in London Mouse trap (Mouse trap The original version) has never been adapted for film, and for good reason.

Indeed, as stipulated in the rights-acquisition clause of the contract signed by producer John Wolfe in 1956, such a project saw the light of day only six months after the play was completed… the longest to date. A large number of consecutive performances around the world since its creation and has never left the stage (except for a few months due to the Covid-19 pandemic)!

To overcome this major hurdle, producer Damian Jones and his team opted for a completely meta story, poking fun at this unusual situation while playing with a great Agatha Christie-style mystery. Thus, the film takes place in the West End in the 1950s during the 100th performance of the play The Mousetrap.

Hollywood director Leo Kaepernick is found murdered while visiting to prepare a film adaptation of the play. In charge of the investigation, Inspector Stoppard and Agent Stalker find themselves immersed in the heart of a behind-the-scenes theater investigation that is both fascinating and repulsive. They will try to solve this very mysterious crime at their own risk…

An exceptional cast brings this story to the screen: Sam Rockwell and Saoirse Ronan as the two inspectors, alongside Adrien Brody, Ruth Wilson, Harris Dickinson, David Oyelowo and Rhys Shearsmith.

So many good reasons to (re)discover Coup de théâtre now, Tom George’s comedy, on Disney+.
