Garro scored the equalizer for Corinthians in the last minute, with a free kick; Timão was two points down
“Hero” of Corinthians in the 2-2 against Palmeiras, this Sunday (18), the Argentine midfielder Rodrigo Garro highly praised the result. Not for the point won per se, but for the way Timão won it. After all, Palmeiras opened 2-0 with goals from Endrick and Flaco López, one in each half.
However, Alvinegro equalized with two late goals, through Yuri Alberto and then a free kick from Garro himself. It is worth mentioning that Corinthians were two points down at the time of the goal (55 in the second half), after all Cássio was sent off and Yuri Alberto was undergoing medical treatment.
“Very happy. It’s my happiness and it goes to the team. We were able to draw a difficult match, on a difficult pitch. I want to mention my family, very happy for this draw which has the flavor of victory because we drew two less, and it’s no small feat”, commented Rodrigo Garro.
With this result, Corinthians remains last in Group C, with only ten points, behind Red Bull Bragantino, Mirassol and Inter de Limeira, respectively with 15, 14 and 13. The Limeira team, in fact, only has seven games available . A place in the quarterfinals is therefore difficult for Alvinegro. In the last three rounds, Corinthians hosts Ponte Preta and Santo André and then visits Água Santa. However, Garro prefers to valorise the achievement achieved at the Arena Barueri.
“I’m very happy for the team. We had chances and we managed to win, but in the end we conceded two goals. The truth is that we didn’t lose and it’s important to continue scoring, without losing a classic in a difficult moment Playing with two down and getting a draw is good for the team”, concluded Rodrigo Garro.
