With two goals in each half, Flamengo easily beat Boavista and qualified first for the semi-final
Once again at the training pace, Flamengo beat Boavista 4-0, this Tuesday (20th), thus guaranteeing a place in the semi-finals of the Campeonato Carioca. The Rossoneri reach 21 points and take an important step towards winning the Guanabara Cup. Furthermore, it has already opened seven points compared to Botafogo, the first team out of the G-4, confirming itself among the four best in the state.
First time
The Rossoneri victory began to build very early in the match. After eight minutes, Pedro blocked the shot, but the ball fell to Luiz Araújo, who faced André Luiz and shot to open the scoring. Shortly afterwards it was Everton’s turn to cross from the left and Pedro doubled the header in favor of Rubro-Negro. And the third goal didn’t arrive before half-time because Fla wasted some good opportunities. The first was with Pedro, who received a cross from Arrascaeta but headed wide. Then it was Luiz Araújo who shot towards the post.
Second time
After the break, Flamengo started with less pace, but it didn’t take much to continue to squeeze a closed Boavista. In the 12th minute, with the help of VAR, the referee awarded a penalty to Sheldon, who got his hands on the ball after Everton’s shot. During the attack, Pedro strikes, but André Luiz saves. Nonetheless, Rubro-Negro continued to press and, after the technical timeout, ran over his opponent again. And it is Arrascaeta himself who puts on a show: first the Uruguayan makes a beautiful move in the area, makes the defender dance and hits the corner, scoring a great goal. Later, he received a beautiful pass from De La Cruz and only took it from the goalkeeper to complete the rout.
