The head and officers of the penal colony in Siberia will be affected
The British government announced on Wednesday (21) that it had imposed sanctions against six Russian officials, deemed responsible by the country for the death of opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
The decision was announced by the Foreign Ministry, led by David Cameron: “Those responsible for Navalny’s brutal treatment must make no mistake: they will be held accountable.”
“The Russian authorities saw Navalny as a threat and tried several times to silence him. No one can doubt the oppressive nature of the Russian system,” he added.
The sanctioned people are the head and five subordinates of the Arctic penal colony in Siberia.
They will be banned from the UK and all assets in the country will be frozen. .
