The animation The boy and the crane, directed by Hayao Miyazaki, will be released in Brazilian cinemas this Thursday (22). The Studio Ghibli feature film, nominated in the Best Animated Film category at the 2024 Oscars, is the latest among those in the list for the award released here.
The film is inspired by a 1937 novel and contains fantastic and autobiographical elements. The story follows Mahito, a boy who moves to the countryside after World War II and discovers a magical world. In Miyazaki’s narrative style, this explores adult and complex themes.

The film premiered in July in Japan, where it had the largest opening for a Studio Ghibli title, even without an advance release. The animation, also shown on American screens, marks Miyazaki’s return to the film industry since 2013, when he decided to retire, but then changed his mind. At the Golden Globes, The boy and the crane won the award in the Best Animated Film category.

Free from the prejudices of her time, Bella calls for equality and liberation.
Emma Stone has already won 14 awards for her portrayal of Bella, including the Golden Globe and Critic’s Choice Awards. Additionally, Emma’s work in Lanthimos’ film made her the favorite for the Best Actress Oscar.

The first feature film was nominated in the Best Original Screenplay and Best Film categories, while the second competes in the Best Actress, Original Screenplay, Editing, Director and Best Film categories.
