The action took place near the settlement of Ma’ale Adumim
Three armed Palestinians killed an Israeli and injured 11 others in an attack this Thursday (22) on a checkpoint located on the outskirts of the Ma’ale Adumim settlement in the occupied West Bank.
According to local authorities, two attackers were “neutralized”, while the third ended up in custody after a chase. Three injured people are said to be in serious condition.
In a message on Telegram, the fundamentalist group Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip, described Thursday’s attack as a “natural response” to Israel’s war in the Palestinian enclave and a “heroic operation” against the occupation.
The far-right Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, has proposed limiting the freedom of movement of Palestinians in the West Bank, territory considered by the international community to be part of the future state of Palestine.
“The right to life of Israeli citizens trumps the freedom of movement of Palestinian Authority residents,” Ben-Gvir said on X (formerly Twitter). “It is necessary to increasingly increase the checkpoints,” he added.
Jewish settlements in the West Bank are considered illegal by most countries. .
