Currently at Tercerona do Carioca, a traditional pitch club, which has one of the biggest fans among RJ clubs, criticizes the lack of support
Goytacaz, considered the club with the biggest fans in Rio after the Big Four and América, announced on its social networks that it will take a leave of absence from all the controversies of 2024. In the note, in an unbridled tone, the club that currently is in Serie B1 of Carioca (the Third) criticized Ferj, the municipality of his city, Campos, and the lack of investors to take extreme action. He will then try to organize his finances to return to litigation from 2025. Here is an excerpt from the note:
” (…) Considering the values practiced by the Rio Federation and the absurdity of access to Serie A, with only one club advancing to the category (…). Therefore, without any help from the public authorities of a financially wealthy municipality (… ), And without the help of any investor, decides to ask for exemption from the state championships in which it would compete in 2024.”
Ferj speaks
Contacted to discuss Goytacaz’s decision, the Rio Football Federation (Ferj) said it had not yet received an official statement. But, if that were to happen, it would go through the regulatory procedures, granting the license to the club. However, it will automatically demote you to the next division, in this case the Fourth Division. In fact, Goytacaz would be the second to take such action. A few days ago Barra da Tijuca requested a license for one year. Automatically dropped from B1 to B2. And he said that it makes no sense to criticize the regulation, since it is adopted in agreement with the associations themselves.
“All competition regulations are discussed in the Arbitration Council by the clubs, whether or not competent to approve them. This includes everything from the protest formula to entry and exit“Ferj said in a statement.
Goytacaz x-ray
Founded on 08/20/1912, Goytacaz, in addition to a large fan base in the north of the state, boasts 21 field championships and five Fluminense championships. Since 1976, with the merger of the states of Rio and Guanabara, it began to compete for Cariocão. His best results were in the 80s. However, since 1993 he no longer plays in the elite. They had already participated in the Carioca repechage last decade, but never advanced to the group stage. At the national level, he competed in the elite Brasileirao in the 1970s. In 1985 he achieved his greatest success: he finished second in what is now the Brasileiro’s Serie B. However, that year, only the champion (Tonno Luso-PA) advanced.
The camp club revealed famous players, such as Amaro (a highlight of the Brazilian team in the 1920s). But the greatest of them was Amarildo Posesso, Brazil’s best player in his second season in the world championship in 1962.
The club from Campos dos Goytacazes, which has not played in the Cariocão elite since 1993 (in 2018 and 2019 they played in the repechage, but did not reach the main stage. In 2023 (after moving from B2) they fell in the semifinals – final of B1, losing the chance to return to Segundona, the division which is the team with the most participations.
