This Netflix series was a real steal: 1.6 billion minutes watched in one week!

In January, Netflix kicked off the year with two big hits: Double Trap and Griselda. If Harlan Coben’s series quickly reached the top ten of all time and overshadowed Sofia Vergara’s series, this did not prevent the release of Madrina’s biography around the world.

According to a Nielsen report (an American audience tracking company), Griselda was the most-watched series from January 22 to 28, a week after its release. They recorded 1.6 billion minutes watched in 4 days of operation (released on January 25). It’s quite an interesting way to count views, because subscribers sometimes start the first episode without going to the end.

On the streaming side, Griselda beat out testosterone-fueled Reacher (Prime Video), docu-series The Kidnapped Truth (Netflix), Double Trap (Netflix) and Percy Jackson (Disney+) that week. Which once again confirms the hegemony of the SVOD giant in the audiovisual landscape…

Griselda, one made on Netflix

A month after arriving on the platform, Griselda is currently ranked in the top 10 from 83 countries, including France. This shows the success of the program. Netflix made a good bet on a series produced by the same team as Narcos. The story of the Colombian drug baroness, which is much less known than the story of Pablo Escobar, fascinated the subscribers. However, Griselda season 2 is not planned. It was initially created as a mini-series focusing on a part of his life.

But Netflix isn’t done with the Narcos universe. The platform is reportedly developing a new series, this time centered around El Chapo. The project is said to be in development and is supposed to be a direct sequel to Narcos: Mexico, which already focused on the notorious Sinaloa Cartel.
