MP Leonel Radde criticizes the Hamas attack and accuses Israel of genocide in Gaza

“Does this now mean that you can’t criticize the president of a nation when you criticize the entire nation?” Radde asked during the Radio

MP Leonel Radde (PT-RS) expressed strong condemnation of the recent terrorist attack carried out by the Hamas group, classifying it as repugnant and cowardly. In his statements he made it clear that he had no sympathy for Hamas and that he repudiated any form of fundamentalist extremism

Referring to Israel’s response to the X-Ray Program, presented by Diego Garcia, the deputy claimed to consider the Israeli action extremely disproportionate, going so far as to qualify it as “ethnic cleansing” in the Gaza Strip, labeling it as genocide. .

Furthermore, Leonel cited the words of Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli leader, describing Israel’s reaction to comparisons made by President Lula, where he reported that Israel’s attacks were similar to attacks against Jews in the Hitler era. Netanyahu not only found the comparisons disrespectful, but also disputed the claim that Hitler did not aim to exterminate the Jews, but only to expel them from Germany, arguing against this historical interpretation.

“Do you mean now that you can’t criticize the president of a nation when you criticize the entire nation, the entire Jewish population? Do you mean to say that if he criticized Bolsonaro it would mean criticizing all Brazilians and would be xenophobic towards Brazilians? No, we we criticize a government, a fascist administration that aims to carry out ethnic cleansing, to create scorched earth to occupy that territory. And all this could be resolved with coexistence between the two States…”

These statements by Leonel and the reference to Netanyahu reveal the intensity of the debate on events in the region and the historical interpretations linked to conflicts involving Israel and groups such as Hamas.
