It’s official! Procon-SP confirmed, in a note to which will analyze the various complaints received against Max, the platform that will replace HBO Max. The new streaming began to take effect in Brazil last Tuesday (27), but the details of the new plans did not please consumers, who are expected who will soon lose some benefits.
Once signed, the contract can only be modified by explicit agreement between the parties. Therefore, if the operator sends a contractual modification or even a new contract, this will only be valid if the consumer accepts its terms.
Procon-SP in a note to Olhar Digital.
The agency noted that, in this case, “Unilateral modifications of contracts are considered abusive by the Consumer Code, even if many of the service supply contracts on the market contain clauses that authorize the operator to modify the signed contract itself.”, aiming for your convenience.
Procon-SP stressed that if the consumer cannot find a solution directly with the company, he should contact a consumer protection agency. The agency provides an online service channel through its website, available Here!
Understand the change in Max’s plans
The Max streaming service is available in three plan options – previously Mobile and Multiscreen:
According to consumers, the Standard plan, which is treated like the old Multitelas, will maintain the old advantages”for a limited time” – which includes three screens and support for 4K playback (more than two screens and 4K resolution now only on the Platinum plan). According to Max itself, the benefits should soon be withdrawn from users.
Another point is that when HBO Max debuted, to boost streaming, the company offered a lifetime 50% discount on the subscription price, not to mention packages through carriers. Now, with the changes, if a user changes their plan, they will lose the promotion (with the exception of discounts through Meli+, by Mercado Livre, which should remain).
OR contacted Max to clarify the points of change. This note will be updated as soon as we have a position.
