Director James Gunn has revealed that the film has changed its title and will be released simply as “Superman”
Director James Gunn took to social media to announce the start of filming on his Superman movie. In this Thursday’s post (29/2), which is also the hero’s birthday, he shared a detail of Superman’s new costume, highlighting the emblem with a stylized “S”.
Title change
In his post on Instagram, James Gunn also made an important revelation, announcing a change in the title of the production. The film will simply be called “Superman” and no longer “Superman: Legacy”.
“When I finished the first draft of the script, I titled the film ‘Superman: Legacy.’ When I finished the final draft, it was clear that the title was ‘Superman.’
The first will take place in July 2025.
Superman’s birthday
In the comics, Superman celebrates his birthday on February 29th, because it is a date that only occurs every four years. This date was chosen by DC Comics editors as a joke, as the character never seems to age, making it logical that he would have a birthday that only occurs once every four years.
As for Superman’s age, he was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster and made his first appearance in the comic Action Comics #1, published on April 18, 1938. Therefore, if we consider the date of his first appearance as All t the beginning of his “life”, Superman will turn 86 in April 2024.
When I finished the first draft of the screenplay, I titled the film Superman: Legacy. When I finished the final draft, it was clear that the title was Superman. Coming soon, July 2025.#Superman #HappyBirthdayClark #To go back and forth
