After various slasher remakes, Hollywood seems to have found a new financial income by rebooting 80s B-movies! After the Toxic Avenger remake, it’s time for Street Trash. This 1987 horror comedy by Jim Murrow definitely deserves a remake.
What is street litter?
Not for children under 12, the feature film tells the story of two lost teenagers, Fred and Kevin, who live in a dump in the kingdom of the tramp. Because of poverty or evil, everyone who gravitates around the ghouls is angry with them and tries to get under their skin.
At the same time, in the depths of his reserve, the owner of a small liquor store discovers a case of adulterated alcohol. The bottles quickly found buyers among the marginalized. Its effects are devastating, the drink of unknown origin destroys those who imbibe it…
This terrifying and insane delirium, directed by a young 21-year-old filmmaker who was still a student at the New York School of Visual Arts, became a cult classic and delighted horror and VHS fans alike. However, its director – who became a very famous steady camera – ultimately rejects his film.
Why a remake?
The remake is directed by Ryan Kruger, director of the B-movie Fried Barry, in which an alien takes control of a corpse and leads it through Cape Town.
The film will be directed by Sean Cameron Michael, Donna Cormac Thomson, Joe Vaz and directed by Ryan Kruger, who started his career as an actor.

When the Street Trash remake project was announced, variety reports that the new version will stay true to the story of the original, but it will “Expanded on the hill to create a metaphor for something much bigger“.
Ryan Kruger explains:Our reinterpretation of Street Litter is set in Cape Town, South Africa, where the growing disparity between rich and poor has changed the world as we know it.
I was a huge fan of the original Street Trash as a kid and couldn’t be more excited to introduce a new generation to the molten madness that made the first classic..”
