Godzilla Minus One makes history three times at the 2024 Oscars

Feature won the Best Visual Effects category at the 96th edition of the biggest cinema award, which took place on Sunday night (10)

Godzilla Minus One made history in the 96th edition of Oscar, which took place last Sunday night (10), winning the Best Visual Effects category. Upon being nominated, the film became the first in the history of the franchise, which turns 70 in 2024, to win an Oscar nomination and, consequently, the first to win an award.

Furthermore, in almost 100 years of existence of the most prestigious award in cinema, Godzilla Minus One became the first non-English film to win the Best Visual Effects statuette. With the victory, the production, which premiered here last December, hit Resistancemost recent film by Gareth Edwards (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), is the favorite for the Best Visual Effectsafter winning the award at the Visual Effects Society Awards, organized by professionals in the field.
