Squid Game: The actor of the Netflix series was sentenced to 8 months in prison for sexual assault

The subject of a complaint filed in December 2021 for sexual assault and assault, Oh Yong-soo pleaded guilty after a high-profile trial by South Korean justice.

The 79-year-old actor is best known for his role in Squid Game, which also won him a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor.

Eight months in prison

Sentenced to eight months in prison, the latter will also be placed on two years’ probation and must undergo forty hours of sexual assault education training.

However, his imprisonment will not affect Squid Game Season 2, as O Yeong-su was not scheduled to return to the Netflix series (the character did not survive the first season).

The actor admitted some of the facts, but objected to the slightest inappropriate gesture towards the victim. The latter was accused of twice sexually assaulting a woman in her fifties, whose identity was not disclosed during the trial.

The Squid Game returns in 2024
