Un Si Grand Soleil: “It’s a decision on my part”… Colin Ramos-Pinto (Kira) recalls the reasons for his departure

After Guillem (Manuel Blanc) and Akim (Aisam Medem), the faithful of Un si grand soleil will soon say goodbye to the character of Kira.

Featured in the series since 2021, Colin Ramos-Pinto, his translator, will indeed leave the daily France 2 series on March 21 at the end of an emotional episode.

During an exchange on this narrative arc, Colleen Ramos-Pinto spoke to Alocine about her reasons for leaving.

Allociné: Recently we heard in the media that you are leaving Un si grand soleil. What led to this choice?

Colin Ramos-Pinto : This is a decision from my side. Un si grand soleil was the first project of my career. I learned a lot. It’s an incredible car, such a big sun, but after a while it gets a little stagnant. And there I felt that towards the end there was no more flame. When I arrived in 2021, I barely finished shooting one day when I was already looking forward to the next day. I knew it would subside after a while. As it started to fade, I told myself not to let it go.

Is this departure final or do we still hope to see you again at Un si grand soleil soon, even more often?

I want to come back for the plot from time to time. I think it’s great. I don’t close the door.

Are you happy with your opening arc and what the writers have written for your ending?

I’m very happy. I don’t know how the writers managed to integrate so many similarities between my life and Kira’s. I also went to boarding school and was very happy that it worked for my life. And then it was a gentle departure. First of all, I loved playing everything we played. It was dramatic at times and I liked that I could up my game a little bit.

I imagine it must be difficult to leave a character you’ve played for so many years?

At first I was really in denial. I didn’t think at all about ending and Kira leaving. I was a million miles away until I tried it on and saw all of Kira’s clothes on the rack. That’s when I realized I was never going to put them off again. It gave me a bit of a shock and that’s when I knew I was going.

How do you see Kira’s evolution since you came to the series?

I think Kira is a strong character. He is strong and extremely brave. There was never a moment in his life when he gave up. I find that he is a character that represents resilience well. Then I find him super socially intelligent. He is very fair to others and very honest. I feel like he’s a bit of a perfect person. Obviously, it has its drawbacks. When you look for it, there is fire. But at the same time, I think it is quite justified. Ultimately, he’s a very cool character because he’s healthy.

If you had to take just one memory from your adventure on Un si grand soleil, what would it be?

The first day I arrived. I was in PLS. We were shooting in the studio at Claire’s apartment with Fred Bianconi and Teilo Azai. We didn’t get along with Teilo at all, even though today he is my little brother (laughs). I can’t ignore the cameras, it was so big. I always remember that first day.
