The Star+ film is about time travel and recalls the premise of the Brazilian comedy “Evidências do Amor”
The Star+ platform has published the national poster and trailer for “Grandes Hits”, an American romantic fantasy reminiscent of the Brazilian comedy “Evidências do Amor”, with Sandy and Fábio Porchat, still unreleased in theaters. The premise is the same, with a person going back in time while listening to music, to relive moments from an old relationship. But there are differences, beyond the sexual inversion of the relationship. This time it is not just a specific song, but an entire romantic repertoire that provokes the journey. And the relationship did not end with separation, but with the death of the partner.
The film follows the story of Harriet, played by Lucy Boynton (“Bohemian Rhapsody”), who discovers that her favorite songs can literally transport her back in time to revisit fond memories with her ex-boyfriend Max, played by David Corenswet ( the new Superman), killed in a car accident. Initially surprised, she soon decides to test the theory that her travels into the past can change fate and save the life of her boyfriend. But at the same time, she begins to explore her feelings for a new love interest, played by Justin H. Min (“The Umbrella Academy”).
In the trailer, Boynton asks Corenswet, “If something happened to you and you could stop it, but it would mean we would never meet, would you want me to?” Later, he returns to discuss his options: “What if I could save him? What if I could change that moment and the accident never happened?”
“The Greatest Hits” was written and directed by Ned Benson, director of “Two Sides of Love” (2014) and screenwriter of “Black Widow” (2021).
The film made its world premiere on Thursday (3/14) at the SXSW Festival, where it received rave reviews, and arrives streaming on April 12. Coincidentally, “Evidence of Love” opens in Brazilian cinemas one day earlier, on April 11.
