With just over $253 million worldwide, Wish had a debut considered disappointing for Disney in 2023, considering its importance and space in the animated film market. The film did not perform as well at the box office as the studio had hoped, joining a string of releases that were initially unsuccessful.
The little Mermaid AND Elements, which broke box office records, was perhaps the company’s only achievement last year. But even so, the results of both productions were unusual for the company which, in previous years, had seen live-action productions surpass the billion dollar mark: this is the case of The Lion King AND The beauty and the Beast.
In Brazil, Desire: the power of desires debuted in January of this year. The overall rating of the film was good. On Rotten Tomatoes the animation received the approval of 81% of the public.
