Fans of the NYPD and NYPD, rejoice: both long-running NBC series are returning! It’s official indeed: the former has been renewed for season 24, and the latter for season 26. New York: Organized crime, however, finds itself in a more precarious position…
The future of the spin-off, which is in its fourth season, is actually still being discussed by the channel. It is the least-watched series of Dick Wolf’s NBC shows. In the iconic role of Elliot Stabler, under the direction of Christopher Mellon, it must be said that he had a tougher way with the showrunners who follow each other.
Matt Olmstead started at the position and was later replaced by Ilene Chaiken, who was replaced by Barry O’Brien. Brian Goluboff was named showrunner for Season 3, but left after three months, replaced by Sean Jablonski, who also left the show shortly after due to “creative differences” and was replaced by David Graziano. John Shiban, on the other hand, is the showrunner of the 4th season. Currently in limbo, we’ll have to wait a little longer to find out his fate.
New York Judicial Police This year also saw significant changes – this time on the casting side. Jeffrey Donovan, who played the role of Detective Frank Cosgrove, said goodbye to the series, and Reid Scott (Veep) took on the role of Detective Vincent Riley. And of course, after nearly 30 years and over 400 episodes, Sam Watterson, aka Jack McCoy, left the series. So Tony Goldwyn (Scandal) joined the group as the new prosecutor. Mehcad Brooks, Camryn Manheim, Hugh Dancy and Odelia Halevy remain loyal to the credits.
on the side New York Special SectionDeadline revealed earlier this month that Kelly Giddy will return to the series, but as Amanda Rollins. The show is once again hosted by the iconic Mariska Hargitay, who is set to return for Season 26 alongside Ice-T, Peter Scanavino and Octavio Pisano.
According to NBC, the series remains at the top of the ratings, averaging 11.2 million viewers, compared to an average of 7.7 million viewers. New York Judicial Police.
Nice on the Chicago side
Meanwhile, things are going well in Chicago: The network has also renewed its “One Chicago” trio of Chicago Fire, Chicago Police Department and Chicago Med for seasons 13, 12 and 10, respectively.
The three series returned to the air last January, with shortened seasons, after a long hiatus due to a double strike by writers and actors. Airing on Wednesdays in the US, they are currently the three most popular evening shows this season in terms of live viewers – and that’s not counting their second-day broadcast on the Peacock streaming platform.

Chicago Fire combined for an average of 12.6 million viewers, for 12.0 million Chicago Police Department and 10.5 million of their little sisters, Chicago Med.
Despite the shortened seasons, there’s been a lot covered so far, including Kara Kilmer’s big departure Chicago Fire. On the police side, following the departure of Jessie Lee Sofer, the season should also see the announced departure of Tracy Spiridakos. Luke Mitchell meanwhile joins the cast of Chicago Med As Dr. Mitchell Ripley.
