“And then the trailer for Godzilla Minus One came out and there’s this amazing scene where there’s a close-up of Godzilla’s foot, but he’s walking on the ground and pushing the ground in front of him. Like his footsteps were so heavy that it pushed the ground towards him. Up high. And as soon as I saw it, I took my iPhone into visual effects supervisor Alessandro Ongaro’s office. I showed him that scene and I thought, ‘This is the one. what should we do with our scene'” (Adam Wingard, go Chalk mode).
