Academia moves to diversify the jury and popularize the event, with names like singer Billie Eilish
397 audiovisual professionals from 54 countries were invited to vote on the Hollywood Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Scienceswho published a list this Tuesday 28. Among the Brazilians are directors Bruno Barreto (Last stop 174), Selton Mello, among others.
This edition’s list has grown and become more diverse. Almost half of the quorum is female (44%), in line with the Academy’s efforts to make awards more inclusive and, consequently, less white, after recent editions have been criticized by the public.
Oscar wants diversity in his jury, about 37% of the list represent minorities and half of the jury is international, i.e. from countries outside the United States. See the list of invited Brazilians:
