Carried out outside of school, the SCFV offers a series of activities that promote social protection, the prevention of vulnerable and risky situations, the integral development of participants and the strengthening of family bonds. Through workshops, games, educational and cultural activities, the Community Center becomes a space of opportunity and social transformation, building a more prosperous future for new generations.
The Municipality of Porto Alegre inaugurates this Thursday (28th) a new Community Center for children and adolescents in the southern region of the Capital. Located in Rua Paulo Maciel, 220, in the Cavalhada neighborhood, the space will initially welcome 50 children and adolescents aged 6 to 14, in collaboration with Rede Calábria.
More than 380 children and adolescents have benefited
The new Community Center is connected to the Reference Center for Social Assistance (Cras) and will carry out the coexistence and guarantee strengthening service (SCFV). SCFV is a free service aimed at social protection, the prevention of vulnerable and risky situations and the integral development of participants and their families. In the South, the Foundation for Social Assistance and Citizenship (Fasc) serves more than 380 children and adolescents in this service.
Opportunities to develop and strengthen ties
After school, SCFV offers several activities, including:
- Workshops: music, art, sports, IT, etc.
- Lessons and workshops: topics such as environmental education, health, drug prevention, etc.
- Tours and cultural visits: museums, parks, theaters, etc.
- Family support: guidance and support for families.
Expand access to social protection services
The inauguration of the new Community Center is part of the strategy of the Municipality of Porto Alegre aimed at expanding access to social protection services for children and adolescents. There are currently more than 9 thousand children and adolescents served by SCFV throughout the city.
