After Halloween and The Exorcist, another horror classic gets a makeover: Cursed. With one difference, because if the previous two sagas were allowed to continue, it would be a prequel to the Richard Donner film released in 1976, in which the United States ambassador to London realizes that his son is nothing more than reincarnation. Antichrist.
18 years after John Moore’s hilarious remake, the horror franchise returns to our theaters on April 10. Directed by Arkasha Stevenson, who has previously worked on Legion, Channel Zero, and Brand New Cherry Flavor. And we’ll obviously have to remember his name, given the film’s early positive reviews.
well FIRST OMEN is the real deal. Creepy, amazing performance by Nell Tiger Free and some of the best horror cinematography I’ve seen in a long time. Many of the scenes and choices were truly inspired. Absolutely dig it. #First omen https://t.co/pqQlULv9C6

(“Okay. That’s something Curse: Origin. Terrifying, with an incredible performance Nell Tiger freeAnd one of the best horror pictures I’ve seen in a long time. Many very inspired scenes and choices. I really liked it.”)
The first charmer surprised me. An incredibly insightful and shattering look at sexual abuse in the Catholic Church, while maintaining the tension of the original film. This is the religious horror I’ve been waiting for. Amazingly exciting.
Also 10/10 Possession homage. pic.twitter.com/wYWf0s2dxc

(“Curse: Origins blew me away. A very insightful and disturbing look at sexual abuse in the Catholic Church, while maintaining the tension of the original film. This is the religious horror film I’ve been waiting for. Extremely disgusting. Regards Possession Which I give 10/10.”)
#First omen It is quite effective. The pacing is a little off in the first half, but it has some pretty unsettling and wild moments as it progresses – including one shot I’m surprised made it into the film that was so crazy that the audience applauded. Nell Tiger Free is really great at it. pic.twitter.com/zFYiljLcsj

(“Curse: Origins is pretty effective. The pacing is a little slow in the first half, but as the story unfolds, there are some pretty disturbing and wild moments—including one shot that I’m surprised to see. It’s a movie, and it’s so crazy to see the audience applaud. Nell Tiger Fry’s really great in it.”)
A very thoughtful and disturbing look at sexual abuse in the Catholic Church, while maintaining the tension of the original film.
I wasn’t expecting much from The First Omen, but it’s a decent prequel to Richard Donner’s 1976 classic. Excellent sound design and cinematography. And it has some bloody good scary moments. #firsttoman https://t.co/3RufJn7V47

The First Omen is a cross between Rosemary’s Baby and The Handmaid’s Tale. It’s disturbing and dark. It feels very European than Hollywood productions. Nell Tiger Free is attractive. Although it’s been a long time since I’ve seen the 1976 film, it still evokes flashbacks. #screening pic.twitter.com/rD1ckxWsK6

(“Curse: Origin is a mixture Rosemary’s Baby and A tale of needlework. It’s disturbing and dark. It looks more like a European movie than a Hollywood production. Nell Tiger Free is fascinating. Although it’s been a while since I’ve seen the 1976 film, I remember it.”)

#First omen It’s harder than I imagined. Vicious and unforgiving, Arkasha Stevenson has created a beautiful nightmare that will push you to your limits. Nell Tiger Free also offers one of my favorite performances of the year. pic.twitter.com/qTSAi6ubSM

First sign: Holy hell. I would have expected such 20th century horror from a small studio, not the 20th century. Graphic, scary and lingering in homage to Possession. pic.twitter.com/BYnZBiYR5F

(“Curse: Origins: Holy Hell! I expected such a macabre and unrepentant horror film from a small studio, not Fox. Graphic, macabre, and with a strong homage to Possession.”)
It’s a little uneven and predictable, but when it hits, it hits hard
The 1976 version of The Omen had some gruesome and controversial scenes and #First omen Raise the bar. The film is a worthy prequel to the original. The first sign is scary, terrifying and disturbing. There is one scene that is sure to get people talking. pic.twitter.com/d2dwNZ0oSn

(“The 1976 version of The Curse contained some scary and controversial scenes, The Origin raises the bar even higher. The film is a worthy prequel to the original. It’s scary, weird, and disturbing. One scene is sure to get people talking.”)
The first sign is quite solid. A fierce, intense, delightful little mystery is in there too. It also weaves its way into the original in ways both expected and not. It’s a bit uneven and predictable, but when it hits, it hits hard. Not for the faint of heart or weak stomach. pic.twitter.com/mPkhGs7TkR

(“The Curse: The Origins is pretty solid. Exciting and intense, with a nice little mystery too. It finds its way back to the original in a way that’s expected and unexpected. A little uneven and predictable, but when it hits, it hits hard. Not recommended for the faint of heart or fragile stomach for humans.”)
Starring Bill Nighy, Charles Dance and Ralph Ineson alongside Nell Tiger Free and published by Servant Series, The Curse: The Origin hits theaters on April 10.
