Spider-Man in the short film Aranhaverso shows the weight of responsibility

Cartoon shows the events between the two films and arrives on the Internet practically on the same day as the premiere of the third animated film

While the Sony does not define the release date of the new one Spider-Man beyond the Spider-Verse, fans can miss Miles Morales in a new short film released by the studio. The seven-minute special was also produced before the release of Through the Spider-Versebut it has only been released to the public now, almost a year later.

baptized by The Spider Within: A Story in a Universe of Spiders (The Spider Inside: A Story from the Spider-Versein a loose translation), the short film focuses entirely on Miles and shows what the young man was doing between the first and second films, showing in some scenes the weight of the responsibility of being Spider-Man.

Directed by Jarelle Dampier, an artist who has worked on animations such as What if…? young justice AND Invinciblethe short film shows Miles arriving home after a hard day as the new Spider-Man, only to have to face his anxiety and fears, which take shape as a monster paralyzed by sleep.

Despite its short duration, which ends exactly when things get interesting, the short film deals very convincingly with the weight of responsibility of a young man who has to find a balance between school life, family life and, now, the role of great hero of New York.

The use of the figure of the sleep-paralytic monster, which threatens Miles and then presses on his chest, is a clear allusion to the anxiety suffered by the teenager, who somehow tries to deal with all the problems that come his way on his own. fall on the head in a short space of time. Unfortunately this was not addressed in the film, which could have given even more depth to the character and his sense of heroism.

The short film premiered during the Annecy International Animated Film Festival on June 12, 2023, a few days after the premiere of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The interesting thing is that the production arrived on the Internet in the same week as the third feature film of the trilogy, Spider-Man: Beyond Spider-Verseshould debut.

The animation, which should conclude the saga of Miles Morales and the army of Spider-Men against the villain Mancha, had a release date scheduled for March 28, 2024, but it has been postponed and no longer has a specific date to arrive in the cinema.

In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Miles Morales continues his life as Spider-Man. He ends up getting involved with the villain Mancha and gets sucked into a multidimensional storyline where he encounters a legion of Spider-Men fighting to keep the multiverse intact.

Once again reunited with his friends Peter B. Parker and Gwen Stacy, Miles needs to learn once and for all what it means to be a hero and the toll it can take on his life.
