“The 3-Body Problem” immerses the audience in a science fiction world that combines real theories and concepts with fictional ideas. The adaptation of Cixin Liu’s book trilogy has quickly slipped into the most watched content on Netflix. But with only one season (and no news of a second), many fans were left hungry for more aliens, suspense, and theoretical problems.
Sci-Fi Movies to Watch on Netflix After ‘The 3-Body Problem’
‘Spaceman’
The film stars Adam Sandler and tells the story of astronaut Jakub, who, during a lonely mission in space, realizes that his marriage may not survive a crisis, so he ends up accepting help from a spider who travels to his ship.
Like ‘3 Body Problem’, it is based on a book. In his case, “The Bohemian Astronaut.”
“Leave the world behind”
During a family vacation, two strangers show up seeking refuge from an increasingly terrifying cyberattack. Again, the film is based on a book of the same name, by author Rumaan Alam.
Moreover, it is slightly inspired by real-life situations and shows humanity frustrated by a threat that cannot be easily deciphered.
“Don’t Look Up”
Looking for a movie that combines real science with fantasy? The 2021 film is about two astronomers who discover a comet heading towards Earth and try to warn humanity, but no one believes them. Play with the idea of how governments, media and people would act in the face of such a threat.
‘Arrival’
In the style of “The Three Hides” (but with more suspense), the film chronicles the efforts of a linguist recruited by the US government to communicate with and discover the intentions of alien ships making contact with Earth.
‘Annihilation’
Real science aside, this film depicts a group of scientists venturing into a mysterious region known as ‘The Shine’, where nature is transformed and natural laws are challenged.
“Camp at the end of the world”
A much “lighter” version than “The Three Body Problem” and more suitable for younger members of the family: a group of teenagers face an alien invasion while camping in the woods.
“Rebel Moon”
The film departs from the “3 Body Problem” cut, but remains in the science fiction genre (with space travel and alien threats): when a peaceful colony faces the armies of a tyrannical regent, Cora, a young man with a mysterious past, gathers warriors from nearby planets to challenge him.
“What happened on Monday?”
In an overpopulated future, a woman searches for her seven identical sisters, who must live in hiding to survive the one-child-per-family policy.
