Done deal: Artur Jorge will be the new coach of Botafogo. The Juventus club finalized the agreement with the commander of Braga (POR) this Friday and now the arrival of the 52-year-old professional. “ge” gave the information first.
Owner of the SAF do Botafogo, John Textor was responsible for leading the operation. The American met with representatives of Braga and reached an agreement. Alvinegro will pay 2 million euros to have the Portuguese coach.
Textor traveled to Portugal on Monday, where he met Artur Jorge and convinced him of the project. The coach had a contract with the Portuguese club until mid-2025, but he would leave Braga at the end of this season.
The expectation is that Arthur Jorge will arrive in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday, as he is still expected to lead Braga on Monday. Until then, however, there is expected to be no announcement between the parties involved. In this way, Fábio Matias will continue to lead Botafogo, also in the Libertadores debut, against Junior Barranquilla (COL), on Wednesday.
Artur Jorge has spent virtually his entire career at Braga, with spells in the youth and professional teams. This season he led the club to the Portuguese League Cup title.
