The choice was ruthless… With an avalanche of horror-horror movies in the base and only 300 rated movies, the Palme d’Or for worst movie of the genre goes to Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, with a royal average of 1.05 out of 5.
Released in February 2023 in the United States and theatrically distributed in many countries, this horror film hit direct-to-VOD in France in July 2023 on Amazon Prime. Honestly, we didn’t think this movie would get this much buzz considering the amount of cheesy, even Z, movies that sweep the grounds.
For example, something like Jurassic Shark is rated even worse, averaging 0.9 out of 5, but currently only has 153 viewer ratings. Alone in The Dark II by tandem Peter Scherer and Michael Roesch (who?) is rated worse. Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, average viewer rating of 0.96 out of 5; but has only 142 entries per hour.
A deviant, nonsensical and above all terrifying version of Winnie the Pooh, signed by the unknown person in the battalion, Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the feature film follows the famous character accompanied by a piglet. They became profoundly wild creatures after Jean-Christophe left them to go to university. The two workers have developed a hatred for humans and kill anyone who crosses into the Blue Dream Forest.
A small anthology of reviews
Obviously, such an average makes the viewer sulph… 58 of the 110 reviews published on the film’s profile gave it the lowest score, i.e. 0.5 out of 5. “The actors are all horribly bad, it’s completely stupid torture porn and with no consistency to the cardboard script, one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen” Toino balances it charitably and gives the film 0.5 out of 5.
“After Mad Heidi and Terrifier, here’s another low-budget movie that’s got people talking about it, despite the disturbing fondness it exhibits. It’s simple, everything is very bad, no matter what he does, the film will not work. Never surprise, scare or be interesting” Writes 2985 which gives 1 out of 5.
“Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” could have been a crazy and boring project, of course, but very enjoyable, while all we have in front of us is a vulgar, uninteresting slasher film. Commented by Shawn777 who rates the movie 1 out of 5.
The film, made for barely $100,000, still earned $4.9 million at the box office. It is enough to reassure its author, because the second part is being prepared. Also, what is the significance of the film’s performance at the last Razzie Awards?
Producers have announced their desire to make a kind of horror-parody movie with Avengers Bambi, Peter Pan and Tinker Bell, Tigger, Piglet and Pooh, Pinocchio, but also The Mad Hatter and Sleeping Beauty. While we try to wash away the concept, we might as well approach it thoroughly and strip it down to the bones.
