Godzilla and Kong: The New Empire it premiered last Friday (29th) in the United States and grossed, in the first three days alone, 80 million dollars at the box office, a devastating launch for the giants’ franchise. With the number, the sequence has exceeded (and by a lot) Ghostbusters: Ice Apocalypsewhich grossed $15.7 million in its second week in theaters.
Directed again by Adam Wingard, Godzilla and Kong: New Empire features the return of actors Brian Tyree Henry and Rebecca Hall. The new addition to the cast is the new protagonist, Dan Stevens, known for his roles in Legion, Downton Abbey AND The beauty and the Beast.
The film promises not only to unite the famous kaiju, the Japanese term for giant monsters, but also to explore the origins of the Titans and the mysteries of Skull Island. Watch the final trailer here!
The film is the continuation of Godzilla vs. Kong (2021). According to director Wingard, the inspiration for the relationship between the two titans was based on crime comedies of the 80s and 90s, such as Deadly machine, suggesting that the film might even have a humorous tone. Get it here!
