“It’s one evening when I meet Scorsese…”: these are the words with which Lara Fabian begins to tell her story in an interview for the Canal+ show Clique opposite Mouloud Achour. But be careful, this is not a simple anecdote, but an incredible moment that will forever remain in his memory. When the world of music meets cinema, in a New York restaurant, or rather when Lara Fabian Singing in front of the famous cast of Goodfellas: That’s right.
“There was one evening when I met Scorsese at one of the super famous Italian restaurants in New York, where Tommy Mottola, who was the head of Sony at the time, invited me. He introduced me to Scorsese and then laughingly said to me: You know, at the moment I have two or three friends in New York, if the little one sings tomorrow, I will bring them to you..”
it is small Lara Fabian So, at that time was 27 years old, who had just signed a contract with Sony. Martin Scorsese and Tommy Mottola talk about it and have an idea.
“So I’m in the studio getting ready to sing my version of Adagio, by Tomaso Albinoni, in English, and Tom just says, “Wait a minute, baby, I’ve got some friends. He opens the door and really enters De Niro, Pesh, Ray Liotta, Pacino, all his friends. And he says, “We’re going to have an audience today.” And here I can tell you, you better reload“, he continues Lara Fabian in front of a Moulud Achur astonished.
Having sat down, free, true individuals, now ready to listen to him: “I was behind the microphone, they started the instrumental, and I changed the adagio. This was my first audience for this song. I will never forget this moment.“
Joe Pesci, in tears
But this moment takes on even greater significance when one of the actors literally burst into tears: “A tearful Pacey, who was going through a tough time, told me, “That’s exactly how I feel, I’m going through a divorce.” He was not well at that time of his life.“
He continues: “So all the good friends were there. I will never forget this moment.”
But this incredible meeting does not end there: dinner follows at Scalinatella, pasta obviously as mentioned Moulud Achur.
“Then we all went to eat together at Scalinatella. But that evening, Madonna was on the left, Pavarotti was on the right, and I was a child, that is. Even though I was already 27 years old, it was my huge contract that I signed with Sony, showing this incredible energy and strength. I still experienced some incredible things.“
It’s amazing, of course. We wanted to see that.
