Hollywood doesn’t give rest to the successful. Good for the public! The most recent example of this logic is director Denis Villeneuve. As soon as the job was done Dune: part 2 and he already has two new films lined up.
According to the foreign site expirationthe director has to embark on another gigantic project after completing the production of Dune: part 3which will be an adaptation of the book The Messiah of Dune.
Legendary Pictures has already closed a deal with Villeneuve to direct another adaptation of the book. The chosen one this time is the Pulitzer Prize finalist Nuclear war: a scenarioby Annie Jacobsen.
The news came the same week the work hit the New York Times bestseller list. The decision also coincides with the resounding success of Oppenheimerthe biography of the father of the atomic bomb.
Oppenheimer it was the third-highest-grossing film of last year, grossing more than $950 million worldwide. Christopher Nolan’s film also won almost all the film awards, with particular attention to the 7 Oscar statuettes, including best film, best director, best actor and best supporting actor.
Things Nuclear war: a scenario
“The work explores a countdown scenario of what would happen in the event of nuclear war, based on dozens of exclusive new interviews with military and civilian experts who built the weapons and had access to response plans and were responsible for these decisions if they had had to be implemented.”
And Duna 3?
It is worth noting that Legendary Pictures has not yet officially confirmed the third part of the science fiction epic. But this is a question of time. Dune: part 2 It’s already the most watched film of the year: it has grossed more than $630 million at the box office. Still on display, this number is expected to increase in the coming weeks.
A Variety I spoke to a source at Legendary and she already said this Dune: part 3 is in preliminary development, again with Denis Villeneuve directing and writing the screenplay.

The idea, as we have already reported here above is that the director adapts the book The Messiah of Dune in this third part. The work takes place [e aqui vai um alerta de spoiler para quem ainda não viu a Parte 2 nos cinemas] 12 years after the accession of Paul Atreides to the throne.
The protagonist will lose even more hero characteristics to become a tyrant, who will try to dominate all known planets. It is the realization of the holy war that Muad’Dib so feared.
Dune: part 3, which we still don’t even know if it will have that name, has not yet been confirmed by Legendary and, therefore, does not even have a release date. Fans are eagerly waiting.
