Eduardo de Menezes is 16th in the Miami Grand Prix in the jumping

This Saturday (06) the Longines Global Champions Tour Show Jumping Grand Prix of Miami Beach took place. Thus, two Brazilian drivers counted the laps: Eduardo Pereira De Menezes finished 16th and Luiz Felipe De Azevedo Filho, 18th. The other Luiz Felipe, Neto, retired along the way.

Last Thursday (04), Brazil shone on the international equestrian scene with the victory of Luiz Francisco de Azevedo in the 1.40m steeplechase in the CSI5* class in two stages. However, the performance was not repeated either with the same runner, or with the other national representatives in the main competition, with obstacles of 1.60 m.

Thus, on the course with 13 barriers, Eduardo de Menezes, riding the H5 Kastelle Memo, was the best Brazilian of the day. Eduardo finished the course in 77s77, within the 79 seconds allowed to follow the jump-off. However, the rider dropped a bar from one of the obstacles, causing him a four-point penalty and leaving him out of the jump. He thus finished in 16th place.

Additionally, Luiz Felipe Azevedo Filho, riding Sierra du Piedroux Z, ran the course in 80.25, with two points for missing seconds and another four for knocking down a crossbar. Hence, he was excluded from the tiebreaker and finished in 18th place.

The winner was Irishman Michael Duffy, one of nine runners who finished the first course. He was then the only one to finish the second course, with 43s60, well below the 54 seconds allowed. The race featured Ben Maher, the second-placed Briton, who finished 14th, and the North American Kent Farrington, sixth in the standings, but who retired. Second place went to Austrian Max Kühner and third to Frenchman Julien Anquetin.
