Alexandre Moraes opens an investigation against Elon Musk and sues the platform

The billionaire spent the weekend attacking the STF minister and saying he would release X profiles blocked by the courts

Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Federal Supreme Court), has included billionaire Elon Musk among those under investigation in the investigation into digital militias. In his justification the minister cited “the false intentional criminal exploitation of the social network provider on social media.”

The investigation will focus on the conduct of the owner of the social network X (formerly Twitter), who spent the weekend personally attacking the minister and the Brazilian Justice Department. The document, released to the press, classifies the billionaire for obstruction of justice, criminal organization and incitement to crime.

On Saturday (4/6), Musk announced on X that he would remove all account restrictions set by the Brazilian judiciary on the platform. But until this Sunday (7/4) he had not made good on his threat. Instead, he intensified his attacks against the Brazilian justice system and Alexandre de Moraes, also calling for the minister’s impeachment.

Moraes’ decision is an ultimatum for Musk and you actually reactivate the profiles whose blocking was decided by the STF or the TSE. The daily fine was set at R$100,000 per profile, in addition to criminal liability for the company’s legal representatives in Brazil, for disobeying the court order.

Moraes also forwarded the document to the attention of the PGR (General Prosecutor’s Office) and the PF (Federal Police), advising that X’s representatives be immediately summoned, including electronically.
