Fila Float Maxxi 2 Pro has generous doses of cushioning and a carbon fiber plate for a very competitive price of R$899.99
Just take a look at the streets, social networks and parks to be sure that in Brazil everyone is running. The objectives are varied and range from health to greater mental balance. For a variety of reasons, brands need to have the same or greater variety of running shoe options to satisfy consumer desires. It is on this pillar that Fila supports its new launches, the Float Maxxi 2, aimed at runners’ comfort, and the Float Maxxi 2 Pro, which uses a carbon fiber plate to add more performance and oomph to this comfort.
The result of a year and a half of development in the biomechanics laboratory of the DASS Group, located in Rio Grande do Sul, and produced in Brazil, the sneakers immediately attract attention for their construction quality, which owes nothing to an imported product, and for their price of R$699.99 in the normal configuration and R$899.99 in the Pro version, which for a board shoe is a highly competitive price.

Compared to the first Float Maxxi the evolution is notable. Aside from Fila’s name on the band, which isn’t even in the same position, no point in tennis has stopped evolving. The upper, now made of Duo Mesh, has a support fabric in the first layer near the foot, with an excellent fit and large breathing zones, and a second layer above just for breathing. But in no case do they leave the sneakers with a soft structure and a fragile appearance. The same impression I had was confirmed by Laurindo Nunes, an ultramarathon runner who ran 1,300 kilometers in the sneakers he tested. “The Float Maxxi 2 hug the foot and you don’t feel any discomfort, even when you run a lot with the product, and I was really pleased with this comfort.”

The tongue, an item I always pay attention to because I’m not a big fan of thin tongues, is nice because it has a larger structure of molded fabric in the upper part and also has a lot of breathability in the area in contact with the foot. On the Float Maxxi 1 the tongue was a kind of mesh, thinner, that could move out of place with the movement of the foot, which now doesn’t happen with the 2. And the insole is extremely thin, just right to position, to leave all the Brilliant cushioning in the midsole.

The heel was also redesigned and became less thin and more adherent, significantly increasing comfort in use, even if the support became more rigid. There is also foam positioned on the outside, which in addition to making the sneaker cooler, helps protect the heel from impacts, especially for those who do not run on smooth asphalt.

It’s time to talk about the star of tennis, Float cushioning technology, which in this second generation has evolved to become softer and more responsive. Lighter and more efficient in responses (the sneaker in my size 41 weighs only 307 grams), the Float foam is present in a single piece that forms the entire midsole and actually offers a lot of comfort. In the Pro version, the shoe also received a carbon fiber plate, called Speedtech Carbon, which improves impulsiveness in steps.
“The Float platform has had so much recognition in the market, with a huge volume of searches on search engines, that we decided to consolidate this work and expand, maintaining this maximalism of shape and cushioning, but also with this performance upgrade with Speedtech Carbon, which brought more options for the aisles and more strength for the franchise”, says Patrícia Calixto, director of the Fila Brasil brand.
Since I’m heavy, weighing more than 100 pounds, I usually feel the flat immediately when I wear a sneaker that has this feature. In the Float Maxxi 2 Pro the presence of foam is so massive, especially in the midfoot, that I didn’t notice it, which for me is a very positive point. And, unlike the previous model, now when you squeeze the foam with your hands, it sinks more, passing the traditional consumer thumb test.

Another interesting technology in the shoe is Evergrip, a highly durable and grippy rubber that has been placed on the sole so that the runner can use the model on dry or wet surfaces with the same ease and with less wear. This means that the Float Maxxi 2 can be used in daily training and competitions without worrying about the sole giving up quickly.
“Fila focuses a lot on the issue of product durability. There is breathability, cushioning, the impulse plate, but we also beat the competition when the consumer sees how resistant our product is in the upper, in the compound and in the sole. This is the basis for the development of our products,” emphasizes Gustavo Birenbaum, coordinator of performance products at Fila Brasil.
