It will take a long time for Secret Agent 007 to return to the screens. This was declared by Barbara Broccoli, producer of the franchise. A complete overhaul of the character is underway and only when this is complete will the search for a new actor to play him begin.
“Nothing’s happening. There’s no script and we’ll start thinking about it only later. We’re reinventing it, thinking about who it is and that takes time,” Broccoli told Deadine, at a dinner at London’s Claridge Hotel, hosted by the British Film Institute in honor of her and her brother Michael G. Wilson.
Even so, the production company hazarded a prediction: “I’d say we’re shooting in at least two years.”
The next film in the series will introduce a new actor in the role of James Bond, after Daniel Craig said goodbye in “No Time To Die”. According to the producer, although there are no candidates in sight, the character will continue to be played by an English actor.
The candidates considered in the press range from Idris Elba (“Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw”) to Tom Holland (“Spider-Man: No Homecoming”), which gives the ladder of possibilities.
