On Friday, April 5 and Wednesday, April 10, 2024, the pink color of the Cannes Croisette will decorate the seventh edition of the CANNESERIES festival. To open this event, Jamel Debuz came to present to the public without competition his new sitcom for Canal+ called Terminal, twenty years after H.
Immediate boarding (not at all) in the “terminal”
In this fic, we follow the crazy adventures of a flight crew from the (very) low-cost company Flywingz… Jack, the captain with a broken arm, played by Ramsay Bedia, and his crew (also close to the plate. ) clearly have more important concerns than the well-being of their passengers ! Improbable situations, absurd humor and corrosive jokes are not surprising in the terminal…
During Season 7 of CANNESERIES, AlloCiné had the opportunity to speak with Jamel Debbouz and Mohamed Hamidi, who directed the series as a duo. During this meeting, the friends also explained to our microphone that the way they perfected their jokes was, in fact, like… friends!
At the time, the writers of the cult American sitcom (which starred Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox and Matthew Perry) said they were checking the filming live in front of a real audience. If the line was lost, they immediately resorted to correcting the situation, making the jokes more effective and impactful.
“We were lucky to have a super active and interactive audience”
Thus, Mohamed Hamidi explained to us regarding the terminal: “We did exactly that. In other words, we wrote, then read with the actors. We’ve already been given initial feedback saying, ‘We could have done better, the fall could have been better,’ etc… then we’ve practiced on the decor and improved it there again.”
“Finally, on the day of the public shoot, Jamel went out with our audience. We had two or three takes per series. After the first ‘Cut!’ , which were not sharp enough, Mohammad Hamid remembered. So we discussed it with the writers and the actors to say more like that or more like that… we made it better live.”
Jamel Debuz added:He was in constant motion. We are lucky to have a super active audience. And even interactive! He was the one who made it happen. We didn’t hesitate to ask for it when we thought we were a little weak. Plus, we kept some of the jokes coming from the community!“Recipe for success?
