‘Brigerton 3′ is a few weeks away from the release and fans’ expectations are at their peak. So much so, that even the smallest details of the promotional images for the Netflix series have given us something to talk about.
On April 3, the streaming service released new stills, in which Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) is seen with a blonde man, so far unknown to the public, which caused endless questions from fans.
Who is Lord Debling, Sam Phillips’ character in ‘Bridgerton’?
Netflix’s social media posts just revealed the new character’s name: Lord Debling.
Unfortunately for fans, in this case, the Seducing Mr. Bridgerton books have no answers as to the identity of the man in question, since he never appears in the saga.
Rather, he’s an addition from the Netflix creative team, limited to mentioning that he’s Penelope’s suitor this season.
Sam Phillips, the actor responsible for the role of Lord Debling in the third season of “Brigerton,” described his character in an interview with “Shondaland” as “an ‘outsider’ who ‘lives on the fringes of society.’ […] interested in other things outside the norms of society, loves wildlife, is an environmentalist and a vegetarian.”
The heartthrob in question is “looking for a romantic marriage this season. He’s looking for someone who goes against the grain, someone who’s a little weird like him,” so it might seem like a perfect match for the “Lady Whistledown” author: “Go to Penelope. She thinks she is special because she is also seen as an outsider.
However, as we know, in ‘Bridgerton’ Season 3, Penelope and Colin’s love interest, ‘Polin’ for fans, will finally materialize, so Lord Debling’s role points more towards a love triangle.
“Brigerton 3” will have other characters that don’t appear in the books
In addition to Lord Dembling, Netflix has announced the inclusion of two characters who do not appear in the books (at least in name, leaving open the possibility that parallels with others may eventually be found): Marcus Anderson and Harry Dankworth.
The former will be played by Daniel Francis and is described as a “charismatic presence that lights up any room” he enters, attracting the attention of many high society matriarchs and the ire of others.
The role of Harry Dankworth will be played by James Foon. All that is known about this character is that while he may lack wit, he makes up for it with a stylish look.
When does ‘Bridgerton’ season 3 premiere?
The third part of the Netflix series will be released in two installments of four episodes each. Part 1 is scheduled to premiere on May 16th, while Part 2 will arrive a month later on June 13th.
Let us know in the comments if you’re excited about ‘Brigerton’ Season 3.
