For more than fifteen years, the young British actor has fluctuated between big-budget films such as Christopher Nolan’s Tenet or Matt Reeves’ Batman and feature films by authors such as Robert Eggers’ Lighthouse, David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis or even The Rover. By David Michaud.
- Everyone knows him today: do you know who is the young actor in the hospital bed?
Before Harry Potter…
While he’ll soon be headlining Mickey 17, with Bong Joon Ho’s next feature film slated for next January, let’s take a look back at the early years of Robert Pattison’s career. Before being chosen to play the main character in Twilight, Harry Potter fans all know that he lent his features to the fourth opus of Cedric Diggory’s magical saga.
But before getting this coveted role, do you know in which projects he took his first steps as an actor?
The main role in a fantasy film
A year before he donned a Hogwarts uniform alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint when he was about 18 (and spent some time on stage), Robert Pattinson first set foot on the set of two very different movies.
First in the Sacred Ring, a three-hour television film adapted from the famous Norse legend known as Song of the Nibelungen (And which was also his inspiration for Tolkien Lord of the Rings). As part of this epic saga that followed the adventures of the hero Siegfried, a dragon hunter and lover of the beautiful Brünnhilde, Pattinson played the young prince Giselher, who shared several adventures with him.
And a deleted scene from a historical film
He then appeared in Vanity Fair, director Mira Nair’s adaptation of the famous novel of the same name. In this film, the young actor played the son of Rebecca Sharp, but the only sequence in which he played was finally cut during editing.
Fortunately for him, just a few months later, his real career began with a bang, as he played one of the most important roles in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the magnum opus in the famous wizarding saga.
