54-year-old Gerard Butler is not going to give up muscular roles! After recently shining in Mayday, Kandahar or Last Seen Alive, the actor has been swamped with projects. Currently, Pure Scotsman is filming a live-action adaptation of Dragons, directed by Dean DeBlois.
Wrath of Dragons
Butler plays the stoic brute, the village chief of Burke and the father of the hero, Harold (Mason Thames). The actor has already played this character vocally in the successful animated trilogy. The feature film will hit theaters on June 11, 2025.
Gerard Butler has left for Dragons after finishing filming on the thriller Dante’s Hand, directed by Julian Schnabel (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly). The artist plays Nick Tochesis, a writer who learns that a manuscript of Dante’s Divine Comedy stolen from the Vatican has resurfaced in New York.
Missing this opportunity, Nick decides to try to authenticate this manuscript and investigate its origin, journey and author. The actor filmed this work in Italy with a 5 star cast: Jason Momoa, Oscar Isaac, Gal Gadot, Martin Scorsese, Al Pacino and John Malkovich. There is no theatrical release date yet.
Two suites under construction
Gerard Butler has also finished shooting the sequel to the 2018 action film, Criminal Squad 2. The actor returns to his role as “Big Nick” O’Brien, who hunts down bad guys on the streets of Europe and comes close to capturing Donnie (O’Shea Jackson Jr.). During this time, the latter got into the dangerous world of diamond thieves and panther mafia.
Another sequel is in the action star’s pocket: Greenland Migration. The first part, The Last Refuge, was released in theaters in August 2020. This second episode will still be directed by Rick Roman Waugh. Butler will reprise his role as John Garris.
This sequel follows the protagonist’s family wandering through frozen Europe after surviving the collision between the comet and Earth in the first episode. They were able to hide in a shelter in Greenland at the last minute.
Gerard Butler has two more action projects coming up, Remote Control and Just Look At Me. He finds his new everyday life turned upside down when he receives a mysterious phone call from an unknown source.
After investigating, he discovers the existence of “212”, a powerful shadowy organization that has erased his identity and posed as the famous international assassin Julian Irving. As for Just Watch Me, it will feature the character of Robin Hood-style thief Riley Wolfe. He despises the wealthy elite and takes pleasure in confiscating their property.
Gerard de Bois!
The latter also does not hesitate to resort to violence, even murder, when its victims are found on the road. His next project? He wants to seize Iran’s crown jewels worth billions. To carry out this spectacular coup, he assembles a team of crime specialists.
And finally, the 4th episode of The Fall of… saga should see the light of day. Gerard Butler would meet Secret Agent Mike Banging there after the fall of the White House, the fall of London, and the fall of the President. In the meantime, you can watch the latest action flick with the actor on Prime Video. This is Kandahar, which came out last August.
Butler plays Tom Harris, an undercover CIA agent who infiltrates the Middle East. An intelligence leak reveals his identity while he is on a mission. Trapped in the heart of hostile territory, Harris and his Afghan translator, Cahill, must make their way through the desert to Kandahar, their deportation point, and escape the elite special forces pursuing them. The race against time begins.
