Although filming is set to begin at the end of April, Wednesday’s second season is slowly but surely progressing. If many mysteries surround this sequel, variety reveals that Steve Buscemi is joining the cast for season two. Details about his character are still unclear, but the actor is expected to play the role of the new headmaster of Nevermore Academy.
Other announcements should follow. Aside from Steve Buscemi, only Jenna Ortega has been confirmed, even if there is a good chance that other actors will return for the sequel. In a recent interview, the American star – soon to star in Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice sequel – announced that the second season will be even scarier than the first.
“Just reading the scripts was very interestingenthused Jenna Ortega in an interview with Vanity Fair. I see all these new characters joining the story. We venture much more into the supernatural world.”
“There have already been vampires and werewolves in our world, but this time we’re going even furthershe adds. The first season had some visually impressive episodes, like Carrie’s reminiscence at the ball. From what I’ve read, every episode of season 2 is like this. Each of them has a memorable scene. Which makes me even happier, because to achieve that feat in eight episodes is crazy.”
Officially renewed for early 2023, Wednesday’s second season was delayed due to a writers and cast strike. It should not land on the platform until 2025.
Wednesday is available on Netflix.
