The aim of the camp is to train the new generation

Veleiros do Sul and CBVela organize the 1st Training Camp of the Olympic Development Programme, bringing together almost 20 young sailors of the ILCA class in Porto Alegre (RS).

Activities began with training regattas in Guaíba, followed by a technical briefing held by coaches Andrey Godoy and Gustavo Nascimento at the club.

The aim of the camp is to train the next generation for future world events such as the Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.

“Another work focused on Brazilian youth sailing, whose main objective is to ensure renewal. I thank Veleiros do Sul and the Brazilian Olympic Committee for their collaboration in this activity,” said Marco Aurélio de Sá Ribeiro, president of CBVela.

Six Brazilian clubs that promote Olympic sailing participate in the training, focusing on maneuvers and alignments at the starts in the first days. The camp will last until Sunday (21st).

Furthermore, some athletes participate in international events supported by the Olympic Sailing Promotion Agreement in collaboration with CBVela, with the aim of preparing the Main Olympic Sailing Team for international championships, under agreement number 930972/2022.
