The bomb squad isolated the third company of the 20th battalion of the military police (PM), in Bairro Alto, in Curitiba, after a 72-year-old woman went to the scene and handed over two grenades and several ammunition.

According to the police report, the old woman spontaneously handed over two grenades and 55 rounds of ammunition, of the most different calibres. When questioned by the police, she reported that her husband was retired from the armed forces and had kept the material inside her home for over 30 years.

Given the situation, the bomb squad isolated the company until they were certain that the objects did not present a risk.

Once “normalcy was restored”, the team handed over the ammunition to the Explosives, Arms and Ammunition (DEAM) police station, which is investigating the case.
