The actor from Assassins of the Flower Moon (2023) was approached to play the classic Superman villain, but ended up being left out of production
Zack Snyder revealed that Leonardo DiCaprio (Flower Moon Assassins) was approached to participate in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justicea 2016 DC feature film. The actor would play Lex Luthorthe main antagonist of the Super manwhich ended up lived by Jesse Eisenberg(The social network).
“I talked to DiCaprio on the paper. He had a lot of great ideas, but in the end he was like, ‘Oh, I don’t know.'”revealed the filmmaker in an interview with the podcast Happy, Sad, Confused. “He had very clever ideas for the film and the character. He was the one who gave me the idea for Super man face the Justice League at some point.”

Jesse Eisenberg he also didn’t last long in the role within the now-defunct DC Extended Universe. He debuted in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and appeared in a post-credits scene of Justice League, released in 2017. When the film was re-released in 2021, the actor had a greater participation as Lex Luthormarking his last appearance in the franchise.
The character will return in Super mana feature film written and directed by james gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3), which is scheduled to debut in 2025 and will kick off the new DC Cinematic Universe. However, Nicholas Hoult (The Great) is the one who takes on the role of the villain in the new phase.
