The actress from “Law and Order: SVU” was mistaken for a real police officer: This is how she helped a girl in trouble

In an unexpected turn of events, reality and fiction collide on the set of the hit TV series ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’. During the filming of one of the final episodes of season 25, an incident occurred that left everyone on set and one missing girl in a state of shock and relief.

The actress from “Law and Order: SVU” is mistaken for a real police officer

Last April, on April 10, in New York, while filming an episode of the series, a girl approached Mariska Hargitay, the actress behind Olivia Benson. The little girl, who had been separated from her mother at Anne Loftus Playground in Fort Tryon Park, mistook Hargitay for a real police officer because of the badge she was wearing as part of her character’s costume.

Instead of sending the girl to an actual police officer, Hargitay decided to intervene. He stopped production and, along with the production team, spent the next 20 minutes helping the girl locate her mother.

This incident, which could have been an episode of the series itself, thankfully had a happy ending. Mother and daughter were reunited thanks to the quick action of Hargitay and the production team.
